It was blatantly obvious the car had been sideswiped. I remember as a kid my dad would take, my mom and my sister and I on these strange road trips. One time he took us 400 miles roundtrip and the highlight was watching some jack ass pass a several cars, (us included) at the same time and sideswipe the lead car in our lane.
